About
What Nutrio is
Nutrio is a nutrition tracker and meal architect. Snap a photo of a meal and it estimates calories and macros in seconds; tell it a goal and it builds a meal plan around it; and for dietitians and coaches, the Client Hub turns that same tracking data into a roster view of who's on track and who needs a nudge.
How the estimates work
Calorie and macro targets are calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, a widely used, published formula for estimating basal metabolic rate from age, sex, weight, and height, then scaled by an activity multiplier to estimate total daily energy expenditure. Macro splits (protein, carbs, fat) are then derived from that target and your stated goal.
Photo-based meal analysis uses a vision model to identify a meal and estimate its calories and macros from the image. Like any estimate, it can be wrong. Portion size, hidden ingredients, and cooking method all affect real nutrition content, and the model can misidentify a dish entirely. Treat every number as a reasonable estimate, not a lab measurement.
Default macro ranges are informed by commonly used dietary references, including the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans' Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges. Nutrio itself has not been reviewed, endorsed, or certified by the USDA, NIH, WHO, or any other health authority. We cite them as background, not as an endorsement of this product.
What Nutrio is not
Nutrio is built for general informational and lifestyle purposes. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and is not a substitute for advice from a physician or a registered dietitian, particularly if you have a diagnosed condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are managing your nutrition for a specific medical reason. See our Terms for the full disclaimer.
Who builds Nutrio
Nutrio is built and operated by Netiva. We're a small team building tools around the idea that tracking should take seconds, not minutes, and that the data from that tracking should be useful to the person doing it, not just collected.
