Privacy Policy

1. What this covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Nutrio collects when you use our website and app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who creates a Nutrio account, including individuals tracking on their own and clients linked to a coach through the Client Hub.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email, and password (stored as a hash, never in plain text).
- Meal and nutrition data — meals you log, photos you upload for AI analysis, calorie and macro history, streaks, and any goals you set (including health-related goals like fat loss, muscle gain, prediabetes, or PCOS support).
- Client Hub data — if you're a coach, the roster, targets, and notes you add for your clients; if you're a client, the data visible to the coach you're linked to.
- Payment information — handled directly by Stripe; Nutrio does not store your full card number.
- Device and usage data — pages visited, features used, and, if you enable notifications, a push subscription token tied to your browser.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service — logging meals, running AI photo analysis, generating meal plans, and computing streaks and progress.
- To personalize recommendations based on your logged history and stated goals.
- To send transactional email (account, billing) and, if you don't opt out, re-engagement reminders and product updates.
- To send push notifications, only if you explicitly enable them in your browser.
- To detect abuse and keep the Service secure.
4. AI processing of your photos
When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to an AI vision model to estimate its name, calories, and macros. We use a perceptual hash of each photo (not the image itself) to detect accidental duplicate scans within a short window. Photos you upload are stored to display alongside your logged meal in your own history.
5. Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- A coach or organization you've linked your account to through the Client Hub — they can see your meal logs, streaks, and any reactions or notes they leave.
- Service providers who help us run Nutrio: our database and hosting providers, Stripe (payments), an email provider (transactional and re-engagement email), and the AI provider that powers photo analysis and meal plan generation.
- Grocery partners (Instacart, Amazon Grocery, Walmart) — only if you choose to convert a meal plan into a shopping list through one of their links.
- Law enforcement or regulators, if required by law.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and meal history for as long as your account is active, so your streaks and trends stay meaningful. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records (for example, billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.
7. Your choices
- Access or delete your logged meals from your dashboard at any time.
- Turn off push notifications from your browser or the in-app reminder toggle.
- Unsubscribe from re-engagement email using the link in any such email.
- Request a copy or deletion of your account data by contacting us.
8. Children's privacy
Nutrio is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including password hashing and encrypted connections — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Nutrio evolves. Material changes will be announced through the Service or by email.
