Photo-Scan Accuracy Playbook

Getting the most reliable estimates out of the AI photo scanner, meal by meal.

Who this is for: Anyone who relies on the photo scanner as their primary logging method.
  1. 1

    Shoot from above

An overhead angle gives the model the clearest read on portion size, avoid steep angles that hide most of the plate.

  2. 2

Separate mixed dishes when you can

A plate with visually distinct components scans more accurately than a casserole or heavily sauced dish, plate accordingly when precision matters.

  3. 3

Adjust for hidden oil and sauce

If you know a dish was cooked with extra oil or a heavy dressing, treat the estimate as a floor and nudge it up slightly.

  4. 4

    Reuse accurate entries

For a meal you eat often, get the estimate right once and reuse it, accuracy compounds when you’re not re-estimating from scratch every time.
